Tintin on the front page of Le Figaro
On the occasion of the Piasa/Moulinsart Hergé sale, which will be held on Sunday 10 October 2010 at the Château de Cheverny, French daily newspaper Le Figaro has published a long article on its front page, all about the 'Tintin phenomenon' sweeping auction rooms around the world.
Olivier Delcroix outlines the rise of Hergé in the world of fine art.
The author also highlights records achieved in previous sales. A few examples : 764,000 Euros paid in 2008 for the original drawing for the front cover of Tintin in America ; 372,000 Euros (2009) for the cover of the black and white edition of The Crab with the Golden Claws ; and 150,000 Euros (1999) for a plate from King Ottokar's Sceptre.
But beyond these records remains the priceless treasure of being able to read and reread the adventures of the little reporter from Belgium who, one day in January 1929, set off on his first adventure, and captured the hearts of children and adults from '7 to 77 years old' ever since !
