Philanews: Tintin

The Belgian Post Office celebrates the relationship between Hergé and Chang in the latest issue of its magazine Philanews, for stamp enthusiasts. The magazine begins with an article by Jan Smets, about the new sheet of stamps issued with the book Tintin à l'Ecran:

"In the autumn, Hollywood will, just for a moment, be situated in Belgium. The world premier of the Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson film is happening in this country. What better homage to the indefatigable ambassadors of Belgium, whose adventures continue to excite and enthral the public and readers of all ages. The Belgian Post Office believes that the upcoming big-screen blockbuster, based on the adventure The Secret of the Unicorn, is the perfect occasion on which to promote the adventures of Tintin that have already appeared on the little screens: the stamps that we use everyday."

- The new stamps are to be put in circulation on 29 August 2011.

- The stamps may be bought from 27 August 2011, 10am to 3pm, at the Collège Cardinal Mercier, Chaussée de Mont Saint-Jean 83, 1420 Braine l’Alleud.

- The first day of date-stamping will take place on 29 August from 10am to 5pm at the Philaboutique Bruxelles-De Brouckère, Boulevard Anspach 1, 1000 Bruxelles.
