Tintin: The Immersive Adventure at Fabrique des Lumières
On Sunday, October 19th, the immersive art center Fabrique des Lumières will unveil a new, fully immersive creation dedicated to one of the world's most beloved comic book heroes: Tintin. "Tintin: The Immersive Adventure" is a tribute to the famous Belgian reporter, taking visitors on a journey through the work of comic artist Hergé in the Zuiveringshal at Westergasterrein in Amsterdam.
Tintinimaginatio, the exclusive rights holder of Hergé's work, has joined forces with Culturespaces, a pioneer in immersive exhibitions, for this co-creation. Thanks to the combined expertise of both partners, Tintin is brought to life as his adventures are transformed from the page to digital displays.
Familiar Faces
The immersive creation showcases Tintin's entire comic book life, from the first publication of Tintin in the Land of the Soviets in 1929 to the most recent albums. All the characters from the famous series make an appearance: Tintin, Snowy, Captain Haddock, as well as other familiar faces like Thomson and Thompson, Professor Calculus, Bianca Castafiore, and the inevitable villains.
Young and old alike will be immersed in the creative and fictional universe of one of the greatest comic book artists of the 20th century. The classic Tintin comics are projected onto the 17-meter-high walls of the Zuiveringshal, accompanied by music from artists such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, David Bowie, and Jacques Brel. This music enhances the compelling atmosphere evoked by the Tintin comics.
Patrick Alders, director of Fabrique des Lumières, is delighted with "Tintin: The Immersive Adventure": "Tintin is a legend in the world of comics. The adventures of this globetrotter have been an integral part of global comic culture for nearly a century. It is therefore special to be able to showcase his story in a new, immersive way."
Two New Scenes
The original immersive creation was previously exhibited at Atelier des Lumières in Paris. For Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam, "Tintin: The Immersive Adventure" has been expanded with two new scenes, a European premiere. The scenes are based on two popular albums from Hergé's career: The Secret of the Unicorn and Tintin in Tibet.
- The Secret of the Unicorn tells the story of Captain Haddock's ancestor, Sir Francis Haddock, commander of the ship "The Unicorn." This scene transports you to the moment when the ship is attacked by the notorious pirate Red Rackham.
- Tintin in Tibet takes you on a rescue mission in Tibet. Tintin embarks on a perilous climb into the mountains where his friend Chang has crashed in a plane. Together with Haddock and the faithful Snowy, Tintin braves the cold, avalanches, and other dangers of the snowy mountains in search of clues to find Chang.
