Originally planned as the second part of the adaptation created with Steven Spielberg, the film had been on hold since the release of the first instalment in 2011.

Busy with other projects over the past few years, the New Zealand director now assures us that development is back on track and that he is working on the script.

This new film will mark his return to directing. For, in line with the initial plan established with Steven Spielberg – who directed the first film –, he will this time take the helm himself.

No filming or release date has been announced yet. However, this confirmation is the clearest sign to date that the adventures of Hergé's famous reporter are finally set to return to the big screen.
